Since I got asked a couple times to post about diets, I'll just jot down some quick thoughts...

The important thing about having a good diet, or starting one- is to make sure that it's something you can sustain.  You should try to make it a lifestyle change instead of just a passing thing, a fad.  

You don't have to eat only salads and grilled chicken forever though.  You should make an attainable goal, like eating more vegetables, for example.  Then you should try to keep that goal.  

If you're trying to lose weight and take on a healthier diet, you shouldn't forget to work out.  It's not only going to help you lose fat, but you'll also strengthen your body.  30 minutes a day 5 days a week isn't that hard if you try.  

Uh... my personal dieting plan is;
     During the week I- Try to eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes, drink water or tea, and have some coffee in the morning(coffee is with milk and sugar, around 100 calories, water and tea is pretty much no calories though)  I like to eat my two 'light' meals during the morning and day, then dinner is just a usual meal.  Oh, and I do pretty much watch calories, but I also try not to eat a lot of fat.(not a bad idea to start with)  

     On the weekend, I pretty much eat whatever I want, but don't go overboard.  I still drink a lot of water, have some soda and junk food, but weekends are for partying, right?  Besides, you walk some of that off by going store hopping or playing games anyway.

Lastly, don't eat the same thing all the time.  It'll drive you crazy.  Try to eat a variety of vegetables, you know, the rainbow thing.  Uh... that's it.  I might edit later if I think I forgot something.   ...Or if you think I forgot something.
